About this game
2048 Cube Merge is a lane shooter built on the 2048 doubling rule, played on a four-lane board that runs away from you in 3D. A numbered cube waits on a launcher at the near end, and a row of 2s creeps toward you from the far end while you play.
The run is endless. There are no levels and nothing is timed, and it finishes the moment one lane stacks back as far as the launcher. Leaving the tab and returning resumes the same board, because the run in progress is stored in your browser, but your best result is only written down once a run has actually finished.
How to play
Press anywhere on the board, slide left or right to line the launcher up with one of the four lanes, then release to fire. Keyboard input does nothing here: the arrow keys and the space bar leave the board untouched.
A cube that lands against a cube carrying the same number merges into their double, and that new value is added to the Score counter in the top bar. Merges chain, so a fired 4 that creates an 8 beside another 8 keeps climbing on a single shot.
The first time you build a value you have never reached before, a New Block panel interrupts play and pays coins equal to that value, so reaching 64 pays 64 coins along with one bomb. A Double Reward button on the panel plays a video advert to double it. When the board fills, a Game Ended panel offers New Game, or Revive behind another advert.
Tips
- Spread your shots across all four lanes. Sending everything into one lane is the quickest way to finish a run: doing exactly that ended one at 108 points in seventeen shots, while spreading the same cubes over four lanes reached 1,684 points and a 256 cube without ending at all.
- Fire at whichever lane already shows your number rather than at the emptiest one. A merge deletes two cubes and shortens that lane, while an unmatched cube dropped into open space simply joins the queue advancing toward you.
- Hold on to the bombs the milestones hand you. A bomb earns its keep on a cube jammed at the launcher end of a lane, because that is the end which actually finishes the run.
