About this game

Emergency Jam is a parking-lot untangling puzzle rather than a driving game. The publisher describes clearing spaces using fire, police and army vehicles, so each level is a fixed arrangement that has to be unpicked in the right order.

One slot is treated differently from the rest. The interface refers to a VIP slot that a car is selected for, and warns separately when a vehicle is already occupying it, which makes that space the constraint the rest of the level works around.

How to play

Select a car for the VIP slot and unlock a car-park space to give it somewhere to go. Levels resolve through those two acts rather than through steering, and a tap-to-continue prompt carries you between screens.

Each level ends in one of two stated results, Level Failed or Completed, with a Next Level screen between successes. Nothing carries over from a failure, so an arrangement can be attempted again from its original state.

Tips

• Work out which vehicle has to leave last before moving the first one. The VIP slot is the fixed point of the level, and a lot cleared in the wrong order strands the one car that needed the space.
• Unlock a space only when you know what will fill it. A newly opened bay is the only slack in the arrangement, and spending it on a vehicle that could have waited removes the room the next move needed.
• Read the emergency vehicles as three separate tools rather than as decoration. The publisher lists fire, police and army types distinctly, so which one occupies a space is part of the arrangement, not just its colour.
