Game Overview

About this game

Ludo Star is the board game, played against the same race-your-tokens-home rules, but it ships three modes that change the finish line rather than the board. The interface names them Classic, Quick and Rush.

The difference between them is stated precisely. Classic wants four tokens home and has you wait for a turn; Quick wants a single token home under the same turn condition; Rush also wants four home but states there is no waiting to roll the dice.

How to play

Choose a mode and a colour, then play. Rolls move a token along the track toward its home column, and the mode you picked decides whether reaching home once is enough or whether all four have to make it.

Rush is the outlier worth understanding before starting, because removing the wait to roll changes the pace rather than the goal. The interface also carries Play, Equip, Settings, Continue, Confirm and Forfeit, so a game can be conceded rather than played out.

Tips

  • Pick Quick when you only want one result. It asks for a single token home, so the whole game collapses into escorting one piece rather than managing four, and it finishes in a fraction of the moves.
  • In Classic, advance your rearmost token rather than your leading one. All four have to arrive, so the piece furthest from home is the one that decides how long the game lasts.
  • Treat Forfeit as a real option in Rush. With no waiting to roll, a position that has gone badly deteriorates faster than in the other modes, and conceding returns you to a mode select rather than a slow loss.
