About this game

Speedy Runner is a side-scrolling chase across the roofs of a moving train, with a city skyline behind and a policeman visible at the left edge of the frame. The runner never slows, so the game is entirely about the gaps between carriages.

Two readouts sit at the top and neither is a timer: a shoe icon counting distance, which reached 21 in one attempt, and a coin total. The browser keeps a high score, a separate distance record, a money balance and three booster levels between visits.

How to play

Press to jump and keep holding for a longer one. The game states this itself on the first gap, printing HOLD FOR A BIGGER JUMP beside a tapping hand, which makes the length of the press the only variable you control.

Carriages are separated by gaps of different widths, so each press is a judgement about how much height the next gap needs. Coins sit along the route and are collected by running through them rather than by any separate action.

Tips

• Let go early on short gaps. A held press throws the runner higher and therefore further, and overshooting a narrow gap lands you at the very edge of the next roof with no room to set up the jump after it.
• Jump on the last possible step rather than the first safe one. Leaving from the end of a carriage converts the whole roof into run-up, which is what makes the widest gaps reachable at all.
• Ignore coins that sit above a gap you are not already clearing. The money balance buys shop items later, but the run ends on a missed jump, and no coin total survives a fall.
