About this game

Tower Defenders is a hold-the-line game against undead Viking warriors, and the publisher states the objective as withstanding waves for as long as possible. There is no final level to reach: the run continues until a wave gets through.

Rewards come from surviving rather than from clearing. The publisher directs players to upgrade defences using what victories pay, so each wave survived is funding the one that follows.

How to play

Waves arrive in sequence and each resolves as a completion or a failure, both named separately in the interface. Between them the earnings are spent, which is the only point at which the defence can change.

The interface tracks damage, health and healing as distinct figures alongside gems and coins, so a defence can be made to hit harder, to last longer, or to recover — three different answers to a wave that nearly broke through.

Tips

• Buy healing before more damage once a wave has come close. Damage shortens a wave, but health and healing are what decide whether the next one ends the run, and the run is the score.
• Upgrade the permanent options before the consumable ones. The interface separates permanent upgrades from spendable gems and coins, and anything permanent keeps paying on every wave after the one it was bought for.
• Let an early wave cost you something rather than spending everything to stop it cleanly. Waves scale as the run goes on, so resources banked through an easy stretch buy more than a perfect defence against an easy wave did.
