Game Overview
About this game
Train Bandit puts you on the roofs of a red steam train crossing a desert, drawn side-on with mesa silhouettes on the horizon. A coin counter runs across the top left, six digits wide, which is the only score the game keeps.
Two things sit outside that counter. Coins line the roof of the carriage ahead, and a revolver cylinder with six chambers sits at the bottom of the frame, filling in gold as the run continues.
How to play
The game prompts with a tapping hand at the foot of the screen rather than naming a key, and it responds to presses and to the arrow keys alike. The bandit keeps his footing on the carriage without input; what you press decides what happens when something arrives.
A run ends abruptly and completely. The screen that follows shows a gravestone marked R.I.P. wearing the bandit's hat, with a play button to start again, so there are no lives held in reserve behind the cylinder.
Tips
- Watch the carriage ahead rather than the bandit. Coins are laid out along the roof in front of you, so the next carriage tells you where the run is going while the sprite under your thumb tells you nothing.
- Do not treat the revolver cylinder as a health bar. It fills rather than empties, so a run does not become safer as it goes on, and one mistake ends it with the cylinder in whatever state it had reached.
- Restart immediately rather than studying the gravestone. Nothing is carried between runs and the score resets to six zeros, so the only thing an attempt leaves behind is what you noticed during it.
Provider details
The provider's listing files Train Bandit under action and fighting, and its title screen carries a Black Moon Design mark beside the sound control. The desert railway setting, the central play button and the six-digit counter beside a trophy icon are all present on that screen before a run begins.
