Wild Hunting Clash

About this game

Wild Hunting Clash is played down a rifle scope. The frame is the circular sight itself, vignetted at the edges, with a ranging ladder etched across the middle and the ground blurred beyond the focal ring, so most of the screen is deliberately hard to read.

Two pieces of information sit outside the glass. A red arrow at the edge of the sight points toward an animal you cannot yet see, and an orange badge carrying a heart silhouette reports a percentage, which was showing 80% during one sighting.

How to play

Move the pointer to swing the scope; the whole view pans with it, and there is no separate cursor to place. A yellow bullet button in the bottom right carries the word SPACE, which is the game telling you the fire key rather than a mouse click.

The publisher's instructions describe moving around to aim and then shooting animals to collect them, and state that stars earned through progress open further regions. So the loop is sighting rather than chasing: turn until the arrow disappears, which means the animal is inside the glass.

Tips

• Turn toward the arrow before looking through the ladder. The arrow is the only thing on screen that knows where an animal is, and time spent reading the blurred ground is time the animal spends moving.
• Watch the heart percentage rather than the crosshair. It changes as the sight crosses the animal, so it is the game's own read on whether the shot you are about to take lands somewhere that counts.
• Keep your hand off the fire key while the view is still panning. The scope keeps swinging as long as the pointer moves, so a shot released mid-turn arrives somewhere the ladder was not pointing when you decided to take it.
