About this game

Word Stars is a hidden-word puzzle built around a circular letter tray. The first level presents seven empty answer tiles arranged in rows of two, two and three, with the letters I, T and F sitting on the ring beneath them.

Three letters filling seven tiles is the shape of the whole game: the same small set has to be reused across several answers, so the puzzle is about which words those letters can spell rather than about finding more letters.

How to play

Drag from one letter to the next around the tray to spell a word, and the tutorial hand demonstrates exactly that motion on the first puzzle. Lifting the drag submits whatever chain you traced.

Two controls sit beside the tray and change what you are looking at rather than what you have. Shuffle rearranges the letters on the ring, and a hint control is available when a chain will not come; fullscreen and settings sit in the upper corners.

Tips

• Shuffle before reaching for a hint. Rearranging the ring costs nothing and often exposes an adjacency you had stopped seeing, whereas a hint is a finite resource spent on a single answer.
• Fill the shortest rows first. The rows of two constrain the letters available to everything else, and locking them in narrows what the remaining three-tile row can possibly be.
• Trace plurals and tense endings deliberately. With only three letters on the ring, the same stem reappears across answers, and the difference between two tiles and three is frequently one repeated letter.
